Browser Bug of the Month

HD Moore published a blog entry on Sunday stating that he plans to issue a new browser bug each day through the month of July. Two are already out and it looks like one of them is pretty nasty. ***CAUTION*** the following links point to pages listing the actual exploit code. ABN AMRO Mortgage Group, Inc. recently announced that a tape containing information about residential mortgage customers was lost while being transported by DHL courier service to a credit reporting company.This tape contained UNENCRYPTED consumer info, and we wonder why so may people are victims of identity theft.

October 2005 worst ever month for new viruses

Security experts have reported that this October saw biggest ever recorded increase in new viruses. According to Sophos, last month's total of 1,685 newly discovered viruses marked the greatest month-on-month jump since the firm first began regular malware monitoring in the late 1980s.
